Suspension Modifications

Well, as of right now, there isn’t really too much in the way of modifications to the suspension. The damn engine keeps eating up the money I would have to modify the suspension…

9/12/99 – Installed Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs.

Well, I finally got the chance to make another modification to the suspension. Unfortunately, I did not have enough money to get the KYB’s at the same time. I’m sure I will be kicking myself for that one soon J

Anyway, even with the stock struts still (say that five times fast!) the car handles much better with the Eibachs. There is definitely less body roll in the twisties and much less nose dive when breaking.

The ride is a little stiffer than stock, but hey; I’m trying to turn it into a better handling car, the stiffness was expected. Actually I would have to say that it rides better than stock, even over the crappy Massachusetts roads!!!

6/12/99 - I installed the Sprint strut tower bar. I did notice, especially on one road that I take to work, that there was a little bit of wiggle in the steering wheel over bumps when cornering. I had read that by stiffening the front a little, "bump steer" could be reduced. With plans to lower the car in the future, which I read increases "bump steer", I decided to go for it.

I must say, I was expecting it to be a waste of money, but, I was wrong!!! That bump on the way to work… NO more wiggle in the steering… WOW!!!
